A high-performing Sous Chef is needed for a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen to assist
in leading the culinary team, ensuring menu development, consistency, managing
food safety, and overseeing service and food cost control. Key responsibilities
include training junior staff, controlling stock and waste, and maintaining high
hygiene standards.

Team Management
Position Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sous Chef to join our culinary team.
You will be second-in-command in the kitchen, carrying out day-to-day operations to
ensure high-quality food preparation and service standards are met. The ideal
candidate is a proactive leader who thrives under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu & Quality Control: Menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring all plates
meet high quality and presentation standards. Participate in the planning and
development of recipes and menus including estimation of food and labour costs
and food supply requirements.
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive,
respectful team environment. Train staff on the Standard Operating Procedures that
serve to guide their approach to work.
Implement the Standard Operating Procedures through consistent application and
communication.
Ensure that staff understand the procedures and sign off the relevant documents.
Conduct monthly meetings with staff in order to ascertain problems encountered
and resolve associated issues.
Manage staff performance, establish opportunities for development and harness
strengths.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the kitchen including managing service and
coordinating multiple stations.
Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and HACCP
standards.
Inventory & Cost Management: Stock control, inventory checks, and minimizing
waste.
Requirements:
3-5 years of culinary experience in a busy kitchen environment.
Prior experience in a leadership role (Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager).
Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques and equipment.
Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Technical College Diploma in Culinary Art or equivalence, additional relevant
Qualification is a plus.
